Summer 2016 Beach trip

My sister and I took our oldest grandchildren to the beach this last week....She took Adelyn, 7, and I took my Heston, 8.  We called it our "1st annual cousin/grandmother trip". Hopefully it will happen again next summer because it was a fun few days of beach, sand, pool, eating and ipads! 4Heston is an early riser like me, so we went out for those early morning walks to see what we could discover..IMG_1204Adelyn and my sister enjoyed the lazy sleep in mornings but joined us later as they woke up. The kids had a great time playing out in the sand and in the pools..We were busy during the days, but when things slowed down after dinner each night, they would play their games until bed, and I had a bit of time to pull out my travel art supplies that I had packed up with me. beachShe started out as a pencil sketch, not quite knowing what I was going to do with her. then....madelyn colored pencils added a new layer then water color finished her off... but the highlights were added with the very fine tip black marker.. I called her Madelyn.... after my cousin`s daughter, who just turned 18.... I found a post she had made on her instagram and just loved her words.. so here they are, as I added them to Madelyn..."She`s 18 , happy and traveling. She is leaving pieces of herself each place she goes, and learning about herself along the way. She is proud of who she is and who she is becoming because she fought hard to get there. So now, she is living, living in pursuit of what sets her soul on fire. She is chasing and exploring and dreaming. She is loving it!  "  You go, Maddie!!!brunetteThis girl, I didn`t sketch... but water colored her outline and then highlighted her with a fine tip black marker to make the details.... "God is within her, she will not fail" is the scripture written on top of her...journeyLast water color girl for the week. I call her "Journey"   I am reminded again, as I pick up my pencil and a brand new piece of art paper, the journey from plain, blank and untouched to finished art. Just as our journey from broken into beautiful is a lifetime transformation. It requires discipline and a Master Artist.I hope you have enjoyed a bit of my week with me. Thank you for coming by to visit.I am linked to Sunday Sketches http://bluechairdiary.blogspot.com/ today. Go visit to see the other sketches that have posted today with Alexandra..Have a great new week,LoveJane
